The coast where Italian is at home
Watamu and Malindi hold a genuine Italian community: gelaterie, wood-fired pizza and hoteliers who answer in Italian before you finish the question. A short flight from the safari circuit lands you there for the final three or four nights.

Indicative range for a mid-range private safari: USD 250 to 450 per person per day, all inclusive. Beach nights on the coast cost considerably less than safari nights, which is why the combination trip prices better than people expect.

Safari e mare in one trip: how many days?
Nine to ten days is the sweet spot: five or six on safari, three or four at Watamu or Diani.
Is the food manageable for Italian standards?
Lodge kitchens are international and competent, and the Watamu coast is honestly Italian. Nobody suffers.
When to go?
July to October pairs the migration with dry coast weather. Avoid April and May, the long rains.

From Watamu, the Gede ruins sit 15 minutes away and deserve two hours with a local guide. Snorkelling inside Watamu Marine Park is tide-dependent; book the morning slot. Kenya uses type G plugs, the British kind, not the European two-pin.
